How does the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM) enforce matters related to the provision of housing and accommodation?
JTKSM enforces matters related to the provision of housing and accommodation through the Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodations and Employees’ Facilities Act 1990 (Act 446) and its subsidiary regulations.
Are employers required to provide accommodation for employees?
It is not mandatory. However, if the employer hires foreign workers, the employer must provide accommodation in accordance with the Employees’ Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodations and Amenities (Accommodation for Employees) Regulations 2020.
When should employers start medical test for foreign workers?
Employers can start the PLKS renewal process 3 months (90 days) before the expiry date of the permit.
When employer can renew foreign worker work permit (e- PLKS)?
From 90 days before expiry until the permit’s expiry date.
